81% of these Liverpool fans voted in favour of one midfield transfer target over Yves Bissouma ๐๐ฆ
The FA Cup hero is thought to be mulling over a potential exit
Gini Wijnaldum is all but guaranteed to be playing in different colours next season, leaving a considerable void behind for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpoolโs recruitment team to fill.
Rather bizarrely, however, weโve seen reports that the German is more than happy to avoid what seemed like a necessary dip into the transfer market to replace the soon-to-be ex-No.5.
Considering that the midfielder has missed less than 6% of Liverpoolโs total number of Premier League games played, since first making the switch to Anfield, this would be a particularly bold call from the former Borussia Dortmund boss.
What makes such a decision inexcusable, however, is the fact that we have unreliable cover beyond a starting midfield three presumably containing Thiago Alcantara, Fabinho, and Jordan Henderson.
On the face of it, the cover does indeed exist, but when you consider that the likes of the perenially injured Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are two of the options waiting in the wings (thatโs not forgetting our skipperโs struggles in that area either) it doesnโt exactly fill you with confidence.
Adding on top the clubโs failure to address the need for additional centre-back cover last summer and we look prepared to waltz right into another transfer mistake of potentially cosmic proportions.
Our trust in Klopp and the rest of the key decision-makers at Liverpool has never been in question, mind, however, weโd have to draw the line here if the club is planning on going ahead with such a blatantly catastrophic lapse of judgement.
Assuming that we will eventually (hopefully) come to our senses, if we are to take reports from a number of key journalists seriously, we at EOTK Insider put to a vote two Premier League-based midfield targets weโve been heavily linked to.
Interestingly, the verdict was somewhat more one-sided than weโd expected, with 81.4% of over 7,000 of you throwing your lot in with Leicester Cityโs Youri Tielemans.
The future of the FA Cup-winner - who secured the domestic cup for Brendan Rodgersโ Foxes with the only goal of the clash against Chelsea - has been under heavy speculation since making a solo lap around the King Power stadium to thank supporters.
It could mean absolutely nothing - itโs a nice gesture after all.
That being said, if reports alleging that the 24-year-old is actively stalling on contract talks at the East Midlands outfit are vaguely accurate, it may very well be worth keeping an eye on the former Monaco man.
Frankly, either one of Bissouma or Tielemans would be fine additions to this Liverpool side, with both sitting in the ideal age range of potential targets weโd expect the recruitment team to be looking at.
Regardless, we simply cannot afford to go into the next season assuming that our backup options will be enough to carry us through a hefty fixture schedule, as if recent history is anything to go by - they wonโt be.
