Brighton review
It did have a potential banana skin written all over it, especially after two minutes when you start the game the way Liverpool did! You might say, ‘Oh, another goal conceded!’ but it’s a once-in-a-season hit from Danny Welbeck into the top corner. When that happens, of course, you do wonder, ‘Oh no, is it going to be a long afternoon?’. I think, with the quality of Brighton as well, when you fall behind to a team like that, as Liverpool have done several times, it can certainly be a long afternoon. That said, I actually thought Liverpool played pretty well. They responded brilliantly to going behind, they performed well generally. Liverpool had 30 shots, I think the xG was close to three - a lot of that was Mo Salah with a dozen shots himself! - and there was a lot to like about how they attacked. I thought they were able to create chances and they were able to make it a game where they were dominant.
