Brentford review

The last two results, prior to the 4-1 win over Brentford, were very recent memories and both under Jurgen Klopp. Liverpool conceded three goals and they don’t often concede three goals in a game, less so twice in a row against the same side! I think it was fair that people would look at the fixture as a potential banana skin. Jurgen even said on Friday in his press conference that Manchester City and Arsenal fans would look at this game as the one where Liverpool could drop points. As it turned out, they didn’t, and it was actually City who ended up dropping points in a fixture maybe a lot of people thought they would win quite comfortably.

I thought it was a good performance from Liverpool, a really professional performance that had the hallmarks of a team that’s ready to really compete and potentially win things. They’re not the only team that will go to Brentford and win, but the way they did, the way they held up, the clinical nature of the finishing, and the fact they were able to beat Brentford at their own game at times with direct play, dangerous crosses and balls over the top really bodes well for them. Overall, you can’t look at anything on Saturday without giving Liverpool an awful lot of credit.
