Liverpool star had 'tears in his eyes' when Harvey Elliott suffered his Leeds injury
A number of players were emotional at the sight of their fallen teammate
A number of Liverpool stars couldn't bear to watch when Harvey Elliott went down during the Reds' clash with Leeds United.
Midfielder Naby Keita, in particular, was left with "tears in his eyes" after the incident, according to assistant boss Pep Lijnders in his pre-Norwich City presser.
Given the value Jurgen Klopp ascribes to team spirit and connection as part of his emotionally-driven football ideology, it’s far from surprising that the incident incited such a response from members of the squad.
In truth, as we imagine was the case for many other fans, we at EOTK Insider found the game to be virtually irrelevant after Elliott was stretchered off the pitch, as we looked desperately for updates on the former Fulham Academy graduate.
The teenage prodigy is likely to be sat on the sidelines for a period of three to six months, which would mean that a return to the pitch this season is possible - an eventuality Jurgen Klopp and co. will be keeping their fingers crossed for.
Having started the season extremely brightly - to such an extent that Keita was dropped from the first-XI (despite a strong opening couple of games) that faced Chelsea once Fabinho returned to the fold - was testament to the faith Klopp had garnered quickly in his ability.
