Micah Richards can't restrain himself after Jamie Carragher's ruthless pop at United legend Peter Schmeichel 😂

Someone grab Schmeichel's coat! He's out of here!

Jamie Carragher was on top form in his appearance on CBS Sports, being quick to fire a dig at former Manchester United No.1, Peter Schmeichel, when an opening reared its head.

The Dane had responded to a question over the possibility of him accepting a caretaker role at his old side until the end of the season.

Mid-gush, as the 58-year-old explained ‘he would do anything for that club’, Carragher jumped in with a mention of the goalkeeper’s brief stint at city rivals Manchester City.

Micah Richards couldn’t help but burst into laughter in a clip that’s likely to invite a similar reaction from the Liverpool fanbase.

The fun didn’t end there, however, as the ex-shotstopper suggested that his old side could invite another familiar face to take over the vacant hotseat at the Theatre of Dreams.

From Brendan Rodgers and Unai Emery to Peter Schmeichel and Steve Bruce, it’s quite the list of candidates our arch rivals may have in mind to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a temporary or permanent basis.

Whilst it would be somewhat bizarre to see a former Liverpool head coach in the United dugout, particularly one who came so close to ending our league title drought in the 2013/14 campaign, there’s an element of morbid curiosity around how the Northern Irishman would fare over in Manchester.

Ideally, of course, we’d never like to see a former Liverpool manager make the switch up the M62, though it would appear that the notion of Rodgers accepting a position with our traditional rivals is inviting a sizeable amount of indifference from various quarters of the fanbase.

In the meantime, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for any further developments.

With Antonio Conte the latest to join the English top-flight, of course, our rivals are increasingly running out of managerial options who could get them competing with the likes of Thomas Tuchel, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp’s outfits.
