Sancho or Bellingham? Which English wonderkid would you have at Anfield? EOTK Insider reveals latest developments 🔴🔥
Bellingham tips the votes with Reds, just - but Sancho far more likely to leave this summer...
Borussia Dortmund have an absolute knack of picking up young English talent, playing them in a few games and watching their value sky rocket.
They did it with Jadon Sancho and now they’ve done it with Jude Bellingham - both are going to the Euros with England and both could theoretically start for Gareth Southgate’s side - despite being 21 and 17 respectively.
At EOTK Insider, we’d take both at Anfield - for different reasons. Sancho would be a terrific long-term replacement for our front-three - which will have to evolve soon - while Bellingham is a potential world-beater in the middle.
We asked fans on Twitter who they’d prefer and the results were interesting. Of the 4,000 odd votes cast, 55% picked Bellingham - although that of course could be recency bias following his exciting full debut at international level.
So, what do we know about their futures? A good source who is highly regarded in Germany (and actually used to play in the Premier League) told us that in regards to Sancho, the player will choose a club who can compete for titles and that ultimately, it’ll be the attacker’s decision.
Dortmund will sell, but they’re no mugs and won’t be messed around like Manchester United tried to in 2020. £70m-odd should do the trick.
Only Premier League clubs or PSG could afford him - and he won’t be heading back to Manchester City - which makes it likely one of Chelsea, United or Liverpool will be Sancho’s next club.
Sancho would love to work with Jurgen Klopp, but it’s Chelsea or United who are far more likely to cough up the cash this summer - especially as there are no plans on Merseyside to sell one of the front-three just yet.
Sancho’s first-choice might well be Anfield, but Roman Abramovich’s pockets might tempt him to west London in the same way they did Timo Werner last summer.
Bellingham won’t be going anywhere for some time. He loves it in Germany and his people are very happy with Dortmund as the club for his development. After all, he’s starting in the Champions League and playing without the pressure and scrutiny of the English media - perfect considering he doesn’t turn 18 until the end of this month.
He’s already shared a post on Twitter though about his love for Steven Gerrard, and recently lauded Jordan Henderson, so we hope he might one day fancy a Liverpool move too!
