The truth about Liverpool's £32m Raphinha bid
Twitter is popping with rumours Liverpool have gone in for Raphinha...
Raphinha is one of the biggest trends on Twitter right now...
The Leeds United star is apparently the subject of a £32m bid from Liverpool, and Reds are debating whether or not this is smart business.
(We say it’d be a great deal, but £32m wouldn’t buy his left-leg, let alone the rest of him, considering he cost Marcelo Bielsea’s side £20m last summer…)
The rumour comes from Mercado Ingles, a Portuguese Twitter account, who frankly have a history of making stuff up for online clout…
£32m simply wouldn’t entertain a discussion for Raphinha, despite the fact the player would jump at the chance of a move. Leeds have rich owners, and he is the jewell in their crown. There’s no way Liverpool have made such a small bid, although the player himself is one EOTK Insider can reveal we have looked at.
What we do know, transfer wise, is that Reds should take the Athletic’s claims that we won’t be doing much this summer with a pinch of salt.
Last year, James Pearce et al were fed the same official story by the club - and then we went and signed Thiago… Publicly, the club want to portray themselves as a club not needing to do business. It helps in negotiations - and many of the journalists unwillingly help them portray this narrative - accidentally working as the club’s mouthpiece.
Liverpool will sign a midfielder to replace Gini Wijnaldum and a winger/forward this summer. We’re not going to make the same mistake we did at centre-back.
With Mo Salah and Sadio Mane set to be absent at the AFCON in January and February, an attacker is regarded as a priority.
At EOTK Insider, we know Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic is being considered, but we don’t know if the Patson Daka rumours are true.
In midfield, Yves Bissouma is a genuine target, too - and there is even a possibility Liverpool will get involved in the Saul Niguez chase.
The Atletico man has a year left on his deal and is available for £40m this summer.
