Southampton are sticking to their guns, and good for them. They value Romeo Lavia at £50m, and so far Liverpool’s bids have been well short. They are holding out on other players too - James Ward-Prowse, for example - so there is a clear message being sent; pay up or go away. Liverpool have already gone higher than they believed they would, making a second bid worth more than £40m last week, and in truth it doesn’t feel like they would have to go too much further to get a deal done.
