It’s Friday, Reds, which means you know what time it is!
As eyes turn to the imminent, delayed European Championship, Liverpool Football Club bade farewell to one of its key men in recent years: Georginio Wijnaldum.
It seems almost like a lifetime ago that the Dutchman first performed the Melwood lean as one of Jurgen Klopp’s first summer signings.
Having played over 230 games for the German (across all competitions), missing less than 6% of all league fixtures, and being a central component of Liverpool’s title-winning side, it’s fair to say that it was £25m extremely well spent on our part.
Given how long the contract saga played out, there’s a somewhat anti-climactic feeling surrounding the 30-year-old’s departure. Though, we certainly don’t harbour any ill-will when it comes to the PSG-bound midfielder.
Considering that we’re losing an Andy Robertson-sized chunk of reliability in the middle of the park, however, it would be utterly reckless to go into the next season assuming that our remaining midfield options can pick up the slack.
Even the most blasé among us have to be noticing the alarming parallels between last summer’s fateful decision to avoid investing in a new centre-half and the club’s reported reluctance to secure a replacement for our former No.5.
For the record, we can’t see Klopp making the same mistake twice in two consecutive summer windows, though, that’s not to say we’re entirely unconcerned!
With speculation increasingly linking Leicester City’s FA Cup hero Youri Tielemans to Anfield, we got in touch with one of our sources who revealed how the Belgian’s feeling about potentially leaving the Foxes, and some of the sides interested in his signature.
According to a recent poll we conducted, quite a few of you would be very interested in seeing the former Monaco man pull on a red shirt next season (at least as far as a straight-up comparison against Yves Bissouma goes).
While it’s far from certain that Tielemans will be the man to help us move on from our Gini-heartbreak, we’ve no doubt that we’ll be right in the thick of the transfer scramble, with a new forward another likely priority for the recruitment team this summer.

Is being a Liverpool fan compatible with supporting England?
Michael Owen’s moment of magic v Argentina in France, footy trips, and racist abuse. In the modern, supposedly enlightened world, the latter should have been utterly obliterated from the face of the earth, let alone the sport. As such, we must ask ourselves whether it’s possible to happily cheer on England (though not with the same level of enthusiasm as we would Liverpool) when the national side continues to be blighted by a poisonous and vocal section of the fanbase.
Is Tielemans close to a Liverpool switch? EOTK Insider’s source shares a transfer update on the Reds-linked midfielder
We’ve been keeping our ears to the ground when it comes to a potential midfield replacement for Wijnaldum. The likes of Yves Bissouma and Youri Tielemans are two names from the Premier League that have been strongly linked to filling the Dutchman’s boots. Our source handed us some fascinating insight into the Leicester City star’s mind and how much he would set back a potential suitor.
Henderson’s getting cosy with a couple of Liverpool-linked targets… could he be helping engineer our next summer transfer?
The Liverpool skipper recently showed off his leadership credentials by tweeting a picture of him standing alongside highly-rated starlet Jude Bellingham, praising the Borussia Dortmund man for securing another international cap. Our attention was caught by the words of another of Henderson’s teammates at the England camp, however, who talked up his friendship with the former Sunderland man. We know Jordan helped engineer Virgil van Dijk’s switch from Southampton… could he be at the centre of another transfer saga?
Is it time we sold Naby Keita?
With the pressure on Liverpool’s backup midfield options now amped up in light of Wijnaldum’s switch to PSG, we must ask ourselves whether the men waiting in the wings are enough to comfortably get us through a season. Naby Keita arrived with much fanfare and promise from RB Leipzig but hasn’t turned out to be quite the Steven Gerrard replacement many hoped he’d turn out to be. Stick or twist, Reds?
And last but not least…
Now that Raheem Sterling and his agent have apparently gone separate ways is the time right to bring the ex-Red back to Liverpool?
The ex-Liverpool star has reportedly dropped his agent, which has led some to suggest a return to Merseyside could be on the cards for the Champions League-finalist. With Jurgen Klopp in need of a forward, could the solution to our problems lie in a former fan favourite?
