We’re a week into the European Championship and we’ve already seen a number of intriguing moments from the tournament both on and off the pitch, from England’s first-ever opening group stage win to Coca-Cola-gate.
Gini Wijnaldum tugged on our heartstrings with his commanding performance in the Netherlands’ 3-2 victory over Ukraine, reminding Europe just why he was so highly sought-after by two European heavyweights in PSG and Barcelona, plus why Liverpool were so keen to keep him.
Beyond emotional trauma, the ex-No.5’s departure has left the club with a major transfer conundrum that could be solved in less than a month - potentially even sooner, dependent on how relevant teams in the Euros perform.
Florian Neuhaus is one name that seems to have gathered traction, whilst rumoured target Youri Tielemans’ is spoken in bare whispers spread thin.
With Patson Daka reportedly making his way to the Premier League, after Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City outfit swooped in without notice, we could very well be left waiting until after the international tournament before likewise securing a forward signing on top of a Wijnaldum replacement.
Unlike our interest in Neuhaus, however, our ideal forward target is considerably less concrete.
Linked to the likes of Dusan Vlahovic and Adam Hlozek, however, we at EOTK Insider are noticing a pattern when it comes to certain potential targets.
Standing above 6’ 2” and 6’ 1” respectively, both centre-forwards are of a similar height to one hitman we're apparently interested in, who has been described as an “invaluable diamond”.
With Roberto Firmino standing at 5’ 9”, the fact we’re considering players who are notably taller than our current No.9 suggests that Jurgen Klopp may have identified the forward line as the site to host the next stage of Liverpool’s ongoing evolution.
Such a shift appears to already be taking place across Europe, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund (Erling Haaland) and Fiorentina (Vlahovic) adopting tall forwards who are far more than simple target men.
Small frontmen could quickly become a thing of the past, with imposing hitmen able to rely on their technical ability to dribble past opponents, rather than being a route-one threat in the air from set-pieces, taking centre stage… literally!
It would mean a significant departure from our previous reliance on a link-up man up top creating space for his fellow wide-men, but one we could imagine Klopp pursuing in the interest of keeping our rivals on their toes.
As such, it will be very much worth keeping an eye on the type of forward the club brings in this summer.

Kylian Mbappe has RAVED about one attacker Liverpool are reportedly interested in who could be available for peanuts
The World Cup-winner compared the reported Reds target to Neymar, Aubameyang and… a TANK. Seriously. Interestingly, it’s one we were interested in a few years ago with the player predicting we’d be back for him in future. Given that the financial ramifications of COVID-19 are still being felt by Ligue 1, Liverpool may be well-advised to take advantage of some potential bargain buys in the French top-flight this summer.
A Liverpool-linked forward has matched an achievement not seen in La Liga since Sergio Aguero
Compared with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Liverpool should be keeping their eyes peeled when it comes to one Euros star who has been lighting up the tournament. Don’t let his height fool you, though; there’s far more than meets the eye when it comes to the 6’ 3” La Liga hotshot.
Liverpool are set to benefit with regard to AFCON in one MAJOR way… but it shouldn’t put Klopp off from making a vital transfer call
The African Cup of Nations is a competition that continues to worry Liverpool fans and understandably so given that two of our key men, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, are likely to be called up right in the middle of our season. Next term, however, it appears we’ve been handed a stroke of luck, but that shouldn’t stop Klopp from making one crucial change…
EOTK Insider source exclusively reveals why Liverpool’s potential next midfield signing is a bit different to Wijnaldum
In a chat with one of our sources (who also happens to be a Bundesliga expert), we discovered that the club we’re potentially looking to buy from has a ready-made Wijnaldum replacement available. However, we’re apparently interested in the midfielder’s teammate who is stylistically different to PSG-bound Georginio Wijnaldum.
And last but not least…
Adrian’s new contract creates one difficult conundrum for Klopp to solve
The former West Ham star will be around for another year at Anfield, much to the dismay of some sections of the Liverpool fanbase. The Spaniard has been known to drop some absolute clangers, though has arguably been more reliable over the course of his career in Merseyside than some remember. By keeping him on, however, it means Klopp may be forced to dip into the transfer market to solve a potential problem.
